If you have been in business for any length of time, you probably understand that it is very important for you to gather analytics on your social media marketing efforts. There are various elements that you, as the business owner, will want to concentrate on. You know that gathering analytics is important but you may not understand why.
Why is it so critical for your business to gather web analytics?
There are many answers to this particular question. The answer for one business will possibly be very different than it is for another business. One of the first things that you will pay attention to is not only how many people visit your website but, more importantly, how many people stay on your website for any length of time.
If you find that a significant number of people are not staying on your website, you will want to analyze what you are doing and figure out why they may not be staying. There is probably something that you are doing or not doing that is causing that result. You may want to ask yourself if you are giving your visitors what they actually want and need. As a follow-up, what possible action will follow the visitor's reading your content? This goes back to the concept of WIIFM? (What's In It For Me?). No matter how wonderful you and your business are, if you can't figure out a way to satisfy your visitor's wants and needs, you won't succeed with that person. That is the key to your success.
Consistency is extremely important when it comes to content marketing and how you relate to your online visitors. When it comes to gathering analytics, you should have the same approach. That will be helpful because it allows you to keep a close eye on what is going and if something needs your attention, you will be able to fix any issues that come up very quickly. If you notice that people are paying closer attention (and reacting more positively) to certain pieces of content than others, you will definitely want to continue to gather those metrics.
Uncover the truth
It is very common for people to notice the content that comes at the top and then they forget about the content that comes at the bottom. That is a big mistake in many cases. There is a potential for a lot of value further down the page as well. You need to evaluate if your website is organized as effectively as it can be. Your goal, of course, is to get your visitors to notice all that you have to offer and you need to make sure that they can arrive at your content in the easiest way possible. In any case, it certainly is not a bad idea to evaluate your website every few years and move the sections around (or replace content if that is what you determine is necessary). The last thing that you want is for your website to appear stale and stagnant.
Get in touch with the meaning behind your analytics choices
It is critical that you understand the meaning behind your analytics choices as well as communicating that to your visitors. On your end, it isn't enough to pay attention only to the numbers. You need to look at what those numbers represent and figure out if you are moving in the direction in which you should be moving. If not, you will need to regroup and get onto the correct path. You and the visitor both need to concentrate on the appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs).
All businesses should have goals. Otherwise, what are you going to work toward? In the case of analytics, your goals should include gathering intelligence and recognizing other valuable aspects of what you are doing. That applies to every aspect of your business and does not necessarily have anything to do with money.
Keep the big picture in mind
As far as the frequency of your analytics is concerned, if daily notifications work for you, great. However, if you are not able to identify trends because that frequency is too much, you may want to consider adjusting it to a few times a week. That should help you to identify trends and patterns more easily.
Gathering Web analytics is extremely important to your business. Your results will be different (potentially) than those of other businesses. Don't be discouraged by that because it stand to reason and makes a lot of sense. Paying close attention to analytics means that you have the potential to bring your business to the next level. There are several available tools to help you to gather the data that you need for your business. It is a good idea to research what they are so that you can make an informed decision about which one(s) works best for your particular business.

We have used (and regularly test) a variety of SEO tools and services in order to compare them. This includes not only direct competitors to my own products, but also the “Big Data” providers in the SEO industry.
Great data is only great if you understand what to do with it. If you’re a beginner to ranking your site in Google then you need guidance more than a bunch of stats and numbers.
This is where most of the SEO tools fail miserably. While the individual data points provided by these tools are often pretty good, when it comes to using this data to give you practical advice they almost always fall flat.
Take estimating keyword competition for example. How difficult will it be to rank in Google for a specific set of keywords? With all of that data at these tools disposal, you would think they would be pretty good at estimating that difficulty.
They’re not. In fact, they’re usually pretty bad at it.
Let me back this up by giving you an example of some keywords where these tools get it wrong. This example is a “long tail” (that is, a set of keywords that don’t get searched very often and contain 4 or more words).
Keywords: online acoustic guitar lessons
Difficulty rating from popular tools (scale is 0 to 100):
Moz – 50
SEMRush – 69
SpyFu – 56
KWFinder – 49
Difficulty rating from my soon-to-be-released SEO system:
Keyword Titan – 28
Notice the difference? The four popular tools shown estimate it to be about twice as difficult to rank for “online acoustic guitar lessons” as Keyword Titan does.
The reason why their estimates are so (incorrectly) high is because those tools appear to be averaging the authority of Google’s top 10 ranking domains / pages for the keywords. That’s a mistake, a serious mistake, and it’s where pretty much every keyword tool goes wrong.
You see, the true estimation of how difficult it will be to rank for a set of keywords in Google isn’t found in the strength of the top 10 sites ranking for the keywords — it’s found in the weakness of the weakest ranking site in those top 10 results.
That is, if there are 9 very strong sites ranking for a set of keywords and one weak site mixed in among them, that weak site is the true indicator that ranking in the top 10 for those keywords is not so difficult. After all, if it was difficult to rank for then that weak result wouldn’t be there, right?
Almost no other keyword tool gets this right. They always average the strength of the top 10 Google results together to come up with their difficulty estimations.
Using Content Marketing to Sell Online
I am about to spill the beans to let you all know the real truths behind article marketing.,p.How effective article marketing is - if at all?
And the do's and don'ts of article marketing.
A general definition of article marketing would be where you create an article on a topic that is related to your website, and publish that article. The article is not about promoting your website as such - hard to understand maybe, but you are trying to capture the reader!
Always remember to use effective keywords and phrases that relate to your topic.
In the author bio section you will need to put in a brief description about yourself along with a link back to your website, whether it be the home page or some other page on your site.
The whole idea here is for your article to get seen online and for other webmasters to republish your article on other sites - thus giving rise to links and traffic.OK - so let's go through the facts and the myths of article writing -
Nonsense: writing an article doesn't really do much for your online business.
A Fact: article marketing can help you increase your link popularity and can be a great source of some of the most targeted traffic you can get.
Nonsense: rehashed or reprinted articles will only get indexed as extra or add on pages and therefore this way of doing things doesn't really help at all.
A Fact: this is incorrect as depending on exactly where the article gets submitted to, is what matters. The article can get listed in the top 10 and not as a supplemental page.
Nonsense: Pushing out your article all over the internet creates duplicate content and you will be punished by the search engines.
A Fact: If search engines punished you and duplicate content was a big no - than all RSS feeds would cause sheer mayhem. Just take a look at the New York Times for example and see how many people link up via RSS feed or attach an article to their blog!
Nonsense: The only way to get article writing to work for you is to write an article and to send it to hundreds of article websites.
A Fact: There is more than one way to skin a cat! If you are looking for loads of links to your site than fair enough - use the way just mentioned.
However another way is to ask bespoke article websites or directories to accept your article - they will take it, so long as it is relevant and is a niche article. This is probably harder work but the results can be a lot more rewarding. And you will land up getting better and more targeted traffic.
And let's not also forget that posting your article on your own website is also a great way to add fresh content and if the article is well written than people will link directly to the article thus increasing both the traffic to your site and the PR of your site.
Nonsense: Always make sure that you post your article to your website site, wait for the spiders to crawl your site, wait for the page to be indexed, and then submit the article elsewhere.
A Fact: When you add an article to your website it is called adding content, however when you submit articles to other sites, it is called article marketing, and with article marketing you don't want the article to get indexed on your site first.
Confused about what I just said?
Well just remember - don't confuse adding content with article marketing as they are two separate exercises.
By submitting articles to other sites and by the search engines finding these articles will help you and your website.
If the websites that you have submitted your article to are getting indexed well, you will stand a good chance of getting seen and high up in the rankings.
Hopefully you will now have a better understanding as to how exactly article marketing works and what is required for effective article marketing.
